Learn About Us

A 2015 report from the U.S Housing and Urban Development stated that over 47,000 veterans were homeless in the United States. Wondering why this wealthy country couldn’t do more for its heroes, these startling statics prompted 22 year veteran Tanja Simmons to take action. With a desire to help in her heart, Tanja would develop and launch the National Network Organization for Veterans (NNOV, Inc.).

We welcome you to learn all about NNOV, Inc. to understand our mission. When our founder, a veteran, researched homeless veterans, she was dismayed to realize the seriousness of this issue and how little support these men and women receive. She decided to take action, and NNOV, Inc. has been her labor of love ever since.

The Project

NNOV (National Network Organization for Veterans, Inc. began in August 2010 and is authorized by the U.S. Department of Treasury Internal Revenue Services to operate as a non-profit business. The project involves the construction of homes to provide safe and affordable housing for veterans in the State of Michigan. At least fifteen veterans will own an address for the first time in years. Being able to receive mail at their addresses will be a positive. We are focusing our efforts in helping homeless veterans to realize strategies that will enable them to become contributing members of society. The project will consist of the construction of five lots purchased by NNOV, either with 2 to 3 bedrooms with a garage, and 1 ,1 1⁄2 or 2 bathrooms. The project proposes to construct at least fifty homes over a period of three years. These homes will come with restrictions associated with occupancy. Occupants must be responsible for lawn maintenance and general upkeep of the homes.

The project is hopeful that 250 veterans will either have purchased homes or chose to rent. Appropriate staff will be available to help veterans find jobs, pursue education, job training, and health care professionals. Our desire is to become associated with McLaren or other health facilities that have physicians available for various illnesses. I have a dream and am passionate about improving the quality
of life for our veterans and NNOV mission is to provide homes state and nationwide.
